Over 25 years of professional experience both in the field of the public mental health network in Catalonia and in private practice. He is currently Director of the University Institute of Mental Health of Ramon Llull University in Barcelona (, which he combines with his private practice in Barcelona. Former Clinical Manager of the ECID project at the Vidal and Barraquer Foundation (Barcelona), which he also developed. Professor at the University Institute of Mental Health of the Ramon Llull University (Barcelona) since 2010, where he currently teaches the Master in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and the Master in Family Therapy. He is also a Lead AMBIT trainer at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (London).



He has led research projects on the prevalence of adverse experiences in childhood (ACE) and their psychopathological consequences in adolescence, as well as on the associated risk of suicide attempts. Also, a study on the transgenerational transmission of relational trauma, reformulating the term ACE as Early Relational Adversities (ERA), to emphasize the relational dimension of these experiences. He also coordinates a project to evaluate the outcome of the two ECID teams of the Vidal & Barraquer Foundation. He is a member of the Research Group on Mentalization and Evaluation of Psychological Interventions (GREMAIP) of the University Institute of Mental Health (Ramon Llull University).


Other merits

He has been invited to present his work on the psychopathological consequences of adverse relational experiences, on mentalization, the AMBIT model and on the ECID project which he coordinates in a large number of national and international conferences and seminars. He has published several articles on these topics and has extensive experience in clinical supervision.
